Lafia Imam Calls for Positive Mindset and National Renewal
The Chief Imam of the Juma’at Mosque behind the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, NBS, Lafia, Usman Shitu Yakubu, has called on Nigerians to adopt a positive outlook in their daily lives as a way of contributing to efforts to change the negative narratives confronting the country.
He made the call while leading the congregation in the two-unit Juma’at prayer.
Describing the numerous challenges confronting human existence as partly resulting from failure to adhere to the precepts of God, the Chief Imam, Usman Shitu Yakubu, advised the faithful to turn back to God for divine intervention and meaningful development.
According to the Chief Imam, prayers should be directed towards leaders at all levels to enable them discharge their responsibilities with the fear of God.
He noted that leaders would one day give an account of their stewardship to their Creator in the hereafter and should therefore govern with sincerity, justice and the fear of God.
Stressing the importance of acquiring religious knowledge and understanding the Qur’an, the Islamic cleric called on Muslims who desire to learn more about the Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad to seek knowledge from clerics who possess authentic and undiluted knowledge of the Qur’an and Hadith.
He also warned against the misinterpretation of the Glorious Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad by some clerics, saying such behaviour could lead to self-destruction and create confusion among the faithful.
The Chief Imam further advocated unity and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims, stressing that such unity is essential for the progress and development of Nasarawa State and the country at large.
