JIBWIS Calls for Justice and Peaceful Society
Nigerians have been cautioned against taking the law into their own hands and urged to allow justice to prevail in society.
The Nasarawa State Chairman of the Council of Islamic Scholars of JIBWIS, Sheikh Yahya Muhammad Abdullahi, made the call while declaring open a three-day seminar organised by the organisation at the JIBWIS Central Mosque, Lafia East, Lafia.
With the theme, “Justice in Leadership is the Basis of Good Sustainability among the People,” the seminar featured discussions on topics including the role of youths in societal development, the history of Aliyu ibn Talib, the importance of Muslim participation in politics, as well as Islamic upbringing and monotheism.
Reiterating JIBWIS’s commitment to sustaining efforts to educate and enlighten Muslims on the essence of their creation, the state leader of JIBWIS, Sheikh Yahya Muhammad Abdullahi, explained that justice is the foundation of societal development, as commanded by Almighty Allah.
He stressed the need for individuals and leaders to uphold justice in their dealings with one another, noting that a just society is essential for peace, stability and sustainable development.
Coordinator of the seminar, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Islamic Religion, Ustaz Yusuf Saeed Kirki, noted that the 22nd edition of the seminar was designed to positively impact the lives of Muslims.
He urged participants to pay close attention to the presentations and reflect deeply on the lessons and messages delivered throughout the seminar.
The guest speaker at the event, a lecturer with the Department of Library and Information Sciences, IMAP, Dr. Dalhatu Usman Jibrin, explained that the choice of this year’s theme was appropriate, considering what he described as the prevailing cases of injustice in the country.
He called on leaders at all levels to be fair and just in the discharge of their responsibilities and to continually strive to improve the lives of citizens.
In a goodwill message, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Good Governance and Development Studies, Nasarawa State University, Associate Professor Usman Yusuf, who was represented by Dr. Muhammad Ayuba, challenged parents to closely monitor the activities of their children.
He said proper parental guidance and monitoring would help prepare young people for responsible leadership roles in the future.
