The National Association of Migili Youth has advocated greater inclusiveness in governance at all levels in Nasarawa State.

President of the Migili Youth Association, Comrade Zhega Zebedee, made the call during a joint press conference organised by the Migili Youth Association and a Migili religious group, Igbakucho Atsa Miyera Migili, held at Mayi Royal Suites, Lafia, on Thursday.

The press conference brought together members of the Migili Youth Association from across the world, as well as the Migili religious group, Igbakucho Atsa Miyera Migili.

The gathering was convened to acknowledge the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the economic and political development of the state.

The Migili Youth Association appealed to the state government and relevant party authorities to consider the Director General of NAGIS, Sonny Agassi, as the running mate to Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada for the 2027 elections.

The group cited his track record of service and contributions in various areas of human endeavour as reasons for the endorsement.

Addressing journalists in Lafia, Comrade Zebedee Zhega noted that the Migili people deserved to be considered for strategic positions, having contributed their quota to shaping the political and economic development of Nasarawa State over the years.

He noted that Sonny Agassi had consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership, commitment and dedication to the growth of the All Progressives Congress, APC, across the board.

He therefore urged the government and relevant party stakeholders to take into consideration the interests of the Migili people in the affairs of the state.

Zebedee, while acknowledging the wealth of experience possessed by Sonny Agassi, expressed confidence that he would make valuable contributions towards addressing the needs of the citizenry in line with the Nigerian legal framework.

He also called for continued support and collaboration among Migili communities to create an environment where further development could thrive across the state.

Speaking in an interview shortly after the press statement was read, the Migili Youth President, Chairman of the Forum of Migili Youth Association Local Government Chapters, Comrade David Umeri, and the Leader of the Migili Religious Group, Igbakucho Atsa Miyera Migili, Grace Oble Daddy, described the event as timely.

They maintained that it was time for the Migili people to make stronger advocacy for opportunities to participate meaningfully in governance.

They expressed confidence that the suggestion of Agassi as Wadada’s running mate would further strengthen grassroots mobilisation, promote unity and ensure greater inclusiveness in governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
