The Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah Onawo has enjoined Muslims to be agents of peace and unity wherever they find themselves.

The royal father gave the charge while speaking at a Maulud organized by Migili Muslim Association, Nasarawa State branch.

That was the mood that set the ball rolling during the event.

The premises of Zhe Migili’s palace in Jenkwe Development Area was agog as Migili sons and daughters from across their communities converged to witness the Maulud, which is the first of its kind in the history of the association that has been in existence for more than a decade.

Describing peace as panacea for the development of every society, the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah Onawo explained that people must continue to imbibe the spirit of tolerance for development to thrive, adding that the peaceful nature of the state has attracted meaningful progress in recent years, hence the need to sustain it.

Ahmadu Ogah, who described Islam as a religion for all, irrespective of race or ethnic group, decried a situation where some people claim its ownership, saying that this practice completely negates the teachings of Islam.

The monarch commended Migili Muslim Association for organizing activities aimed at propagating Islam, just as he called on parents to regulate the use of cell phones by their children in order to ensure that they utilize them positively instead of negatively, which could ruin their future.

An Islamic cleric, Malam Suleiman Muhammad Iliyas who expressed appreciation over the gathering which attracted communities across the area, challenged Muslims to always exhibit good conduct as enshrined in the Glorious Qur’an, saying negative character usually creates misconceptions about the religion, a position which was corroborated by Khalifa Ibrahim Umar among other speakers.

Earlier, Chairman, Migili Muslim Association, Nasarawa State branch, Ja’afar Muhammad Giwa, explained that the event was borne out of the desire of the association to propagate Islam among Migili people, just as he appreciated everyone for contributing in one way or the other towards ensuring the success of the event.

The event, which had in attendance the Emir of Lafia, Retired Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, represented by Gayam of Lafia, Alhaji Aliyu Sanda Gayam, Zhe Migili Dr. Ayuba Agwadu Audu, Zhe Musha Joshua Zhegli Kyari, Sangarin Daddare Alhaji Sa’id Balarabe Alhassan, among others, featured activities including recitation of the Glorious Qur’an by some Migili sons and daughters.
