PLWD in Obi Profiled for Policy Formulation, Smiles Home with Tricycles plus other Working Aids

People leaving with disabilities in Obi local government have been profiled for the formulation of policies aimed at alleviating their sufferings and to give them sense of inclusivity.

Member representing Obi one constituency Dr. Ibrahim Peter AKwe made this known while distributing handicapped tricycles and other working aids to over 400 disabled people in Obi today.

People leaving with disabilities often complained of non inclusion in the business of governance and other societal programs and policies thus, undermining their plights.

This narrative is gradually being changed in Obi local government as the member representing Obi one constituency Dr Ibrahim Peter Akwe has taken statistics of clusters of people leaving with disabilities for intervention and this is already yielding results.

In Obi town, the crippled; the blind and others suffering from walking conditions converged to benefit from the first phase of Dr Ibrahim Peter Akwe’s intervention as 300 handicapped tricycles and 100 crutches and modern walking sticks were distributed.

The gesture according to the Parliamentarian is a delibrate effort to right the wrongs of non inclusion of people leaving with disabilities in programs, disclosing that more policies are on the pipeline.

Some lawmakers from the state house of Assembly also benefited from the gesture who will in turn assist their constituents and one of them, the deputyv majority leader of the house, Abel Bala commended Dr Akwe for being innovative in representation.

One after the other, the beneficiaries mounted handicapped tricycles with joy and thanks to the the lawmaker.

Aside the walking aids, Dr Peter AKwe distributed Cash to the beneficiaries with assurance to continue to roll out policies and programs that will address the yearnings of his constituents.
