Education Commissioner Commits to Tackling Social Vices in Nasarawa State

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamma, has pledged to partner with relevant organizations to address social vices and health-related issues among students in the state. This commitment was made during a meeting with delegations from the Kids and Teens Resource Center, a UNESCO Technical Partner in Nasarawa State, and the Society for Family Health at his office in Lafia.
Dr. Mamma expressed concern over the increasing rate of social vices in society, emphasizing the need to combat acts detrimental to the future of the younger generation. He commended the visiting organizations for their initiatives aimed at positively impacting lives, particularly among secondary school students.
The Commissioner noted that these efforts align with the state government’s desire to foster a better society. He assured the organizations of his commitment to collaborating with them to achieve their objectives.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Kids and Teens Resource Center, Martin-Mary Falana, and the Project Coordinator of the Society for Family Health, Nnamdi Awasike, expressed their commitment to assisting the ministry. They aim to train teachers to educate students on the dangers of engaging in activities that may jeopardize their future.
This partnership is a significant step towards addressing social vices and health-related issues among students in Nasarawa State. By working together, the state government, Kids and Teens Resource Center, and the Society for Family Health can create a safer and more supportive learning environment for students.
