NUDB To Ensure Strict Compliance On Building Construction Laws

The Nasarawa State Urban Development Board has reiterated its commitment to ensure strict adherence to building construction laws in the state, in support of the urban renewal policy put forth by the current administration.

The Managing Director of NUDB Engineer Muhammad Wada Yahaya stated this during a meeting with political appointees and local government officials of the board in Lafia.

Highlighting the importance of the meeting, the Managing Director of NUDB Engineer Muhammad Wada Yahaya emphasized the need to familiarize political appointees with the organization’s activities and to enhance collaboration among all stakeholders to boost productivity.

Engineer Muhammad Wada Yahaya urged the area officers to step up efforts in monitoring building plan compliance to ensure all developers strictly follow urban planning regulations, especially with the anticipated development surge in the southern zone following the discovery of oil in Nasarawa State.

Expressing concern over how some officials of the board posted to local government are overreaching their authority by approving building plans, Engr. Yahaya stressed the need to desist from such unlawful acts to facilitate a coherent development strategy for the state.

Assuring the area officers of addressing their needs for improved working conditions, the Managing Director pledged to create a Conducive environment that fosters optimal performance.

During the session, representatives from the thirteen Local Government Areas of the state cited challenges such as inadequate office space and limited mobility but commended the Managing Director for meeting their expectations.
