Food Security Initiative Takes Off in Nasarawa State, Governor Sule Reveals
Nasarawa State Government is set for the take-off of the food security initiative of the renewed hope administration of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was revealed by Governor Abdullahi Sule during a visit to some hectares of land in Jangwa, Awe local government.
It is no longer news that Nasarawa State is one of the states endowed with arable land with a significant number of its people making a living through agricultural practices.
It is on this basis that Nasarawa State is selected among States to pursue the food security agenda of the present administration, hence the visit by Governor Abdullahi Sule to Jangwa where some hectares of land are being prepared for rice cultivation.
The Governor noted that apart from the cultivation of rice the state government is also planting sesame, corn and millet on the ten thousand hectares designated for the project.
Explaining that the lands on which the project is to be carried out are within the purview of the Nasarawa Agricultural Development Programme, NADP, Governor Sule added that local farmers would be incorporated through an out-growers system that would allow them benefit from seedlings and other farm inputs, while the government serves as the off-taker.
While in Jangwa, Governor Abdullahi Sule visited the place of the Sarkin Jangwa to educate the people on the importance of the projects and the benefits it heralds.
