North-Central Geopolitical Zone to Get More Dividend of Democracy – President Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the people of North Central geopolitical zone of Nigeria of more government presence.
The President gave the assurance during a meeting of APC stakeholders in the Zone held at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall Government House Lafia, Saturday.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume said the North Central Zone of the country is blessed with enormous endowments that are linked to the political and economic developments of the country.
He explained that the current administration is mindful of the needs of the people of the zone cutting across political appointments and road construction spanning, the Makurdi-Enugu, Akwanga-Jos and Gombe among other road projects.
His call for unity of purpose among members of the governing APC was reechoed by the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who said the meeting reflects the reform system of the party.
Unveiling plans for e-registration of members, Ganduje said the party at the National level has concluded plans to avail stakeholders training on internal democracy, together with other areas of interest with a bid to address issues that have bedevilled some state chapters of the party.
Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Sen. Abdullahi Adamu saluted the courage of members of the party as seen at the meeting as a pointer to its goodwill, while the host Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule lauded the initiative, saying it is an opportunity that further highlights the strength of the party and the North Central Region.
Governor of Kwara State and the North Central Coordinator of the APC, Abdurahman Abdulrazak used the event to advocate the need for the establishment of North Central Development Commission to address some of the critical needs of the geopolitical zone.
The stakeholders meeting presented a platform for the Governors of Kogi, Benue, the representative of Niger State Governor and some stalwarts of the party to chat a way forward as they highlight the importance of unity among members of the APC.
Apart from being a forum that reiterated unity, other issues that characterised the stakeholder’s meeting included the need to boost agricultural production and the need to stem the tide of insecurity in some parts of the North Central states.
