Muslims have been called upon to reaffirm their dedication to worshipping Allah.

An Islamic scholar, Ustaz Muhammad Munir, made the call during a special event to mark the beginning of the new Islamic lunar year in Madagwan Hausawa, Lafia Local Government Area.

The event, convened by the village head Idris Muhammad Ahmad, aimed to educate members of the Muslim community on the significance of the month of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic lunar calendar of the year 1446 after Hijjira.

In his address, Ustaz Muhammad Munir emphasized the historical importance of Muharram in the Islamic tradition, highlighting the pivotal moment when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was commanded by God to migrate from Makkah to Madina for the peaceful practice of his faith.

The Islamic scholar urged Muslims to observe fasting during the first ten days of Muharram, not only as a means to draw closer to Allah but also to refrain from deceitful and harmful behaviors that contradict the teachings of Islam.

He underscored the importance of introspection and encouraged believers to mend their relationships with God and their neighbors through self-assessment and self-improvement.

In his remarks, Idris Muhammad Ahmad, the village head and organizer of the event, stressed the crucial role of parents in imparting Islamic knowledge to their children.

He advocated for a holistic education for children, where they are enrolled in both Western and Islamic schools to equip them with a well-rounded understanding of the world.
