Nigeria Society of Engineers Urged to Prioritize Ethical Standards

The Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Lafia branch, has been called upon to sensitize its members on the importance of adhering to basic ethical standards in the profession. This appeal was made by Engineer Adamu Ode Doma, Chairman of the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nasarawa State Technical Committee.
Engineer Doma emphasized that the persistent collapse of buildings in the country can be attributed to the low level of awareness among engineers about the dangers of substandard project execution. He stressed the need for engineers to prioritize ethical standards to prevent such incidents.
During the meeting, Engineer Simon Obagu, Chairman of the NSE Lafia branch, highlighted the importance of upholding the society’s values and traditions. He appreciated the members’ support and commitment, which contributed to the success of the society’s previous year’s activities.
The meeting featured paper presentations and the unveiling of a chronology of past and present chairmen of the branch. Engineer Zakari Ayititogo, a fellow of the NSE, represented the National President of the NSE during the event.
