Devastating Motor Accident in Abuja Claims Multiple Lives

A horrific motor vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday before Nyanya Bridge in Abuja, resulting in the loss of multiple lives and destruction of property. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that 14 vehicles were burnt in the inferno.

According to eyewitnesses, more than 10 people lost their lives in the accident, but the police confirmed that six victims were pulled out of the wreckage and pronounced dead at the hospital. The police received a distress call on Wednesday evening regarding the accident, which involved a Dangote trailer loaded with cement that lost control and crashed into stationary vehicles trapped in traffic.

The impact of the crash sparked a raging fire that engulfed 14 vehicles, causing panic and chaos among bystanders and motorists. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, battling thick smoke and intense heat to rescue those trapped.

The police, in collaboration with fire service personnel, other security agencies, and courageous individuals, were able to contain the inferno and restore normal traffic flow. The remains of the six confirmed dead have been deposited at Karu General Hospital Morgue.

In addition to the confirmed fatalities, many others were injured in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital and Asokoro Hospital, which are reportedly filled with victims of the incident.
