Radio Nigeria Organizes 2nd Ramadan Lecture
An Islamic cleric, Professor Tanko Baitullah has advocated for the adoption of Islamic financing principles as a way out of the economic crises the country is facing
He made the advocacy during a paper presentation at the Second Ramadan Lecture put together by Radio Nigeria North Central Zone and Precious FM Lafia held at Ta’al Hotel.
Highlighting some Government policies which have a sudden downturn on the economy of the country, the Islamic cleric, Professor Tanko Baitullah mentioned the Removal of fuel subsidy without proper framework, over dependence on oil, high rate of inflation and foreign exchange, poor economic planning and implementation of high interest rate and taxation among other issues causing setback to progress of the country.
With the theme Islamic Finance, Panacea for Nigeria’s Economic Problems the Islamic cleric said as a way to cushion the hardship faced by Nigerians as a result of economic crisis in the nation, Government must reduce the level of dependence on oil and focus on exploring other minerals, promote human capital development, invest in agriculture and reduce market monopoly among others.
Contributing, the Executive Vice Chairman, Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, Awwalu Salihu, General Manager NTA Lafia, Ramat Salaudeen both noted that the lecturer has captured some critical aspects of life which if fully adhered to, will foster tremendous development in the country.
Other speakers at the second edition of Radio Nigeria North Central Zone Ramadan Lecture, urged Muslims Ummah to use the period of Ramadan fast by engaging in charitable activities to ease the plight of the needy so as to gain reward from God.
In a remark, The General Manager, Radio Nigeria Precious FM Lafia Ibrahim Abimuku appreciated all those who graced the Ramadan lecture, calling on participants to be innovating as a way of reducing the current economic predicaments.
