Gov Sule To Promote Cultural Activities As TIDA Marks Day
Governor Abdullahi Sule has renewed commitment to promoting cultural activities to enhance social cohesion among different ethnic groups in the State.
Governor Sule renewed the commitment during twenty-twenty-four Tiv Development Association Day, TIDA held at Imon in Obi Local Government Area.
Governor Abdullahi Sule represented by Permanent Secretary Government House, Alhaji Umar Idris said his administration will not live stone unturned towards putting measures in place that will further promote cultural activities among diverse ethnic groups in the State.
Identifying with TIV Community in the State on their day, Governor Abdullahi Sule described them as hard working, industrious and peace loving people whose contributions towards socio economic growth of the State cannot be overemphasized, assured of his administration’s commitment to fight against insecurity in the state.
Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia who was represented by Doctor Ase Emmanuel described the day as historic in the lives of Tiv community of Nasarawa State just he advised them to continue to be good ambassadors of Tiv and be of brothers keepers wherever they find themselves.
On their parts, Senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada House of representatives member from Benue State Barrister Emmanuel Jimmie apart from eulogizing the significance of Culture towards peaceful co-existence, tasked Tiv community in the State to always put the interest of their community above their political parties.
Some Tiv Stakeholders who spoke to NBS News shortly after the programme to include Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Evaluation Engineer Moses Utondu, SSA to the Governor on Public Affairs Peter Ahemba, SSA on Revenue Peter Igbacher, Special assistant on Teachers Doctor Sebu as well as State TIDA President, Solomon Chunku explained that the day provided them the opportunity to showcase their rich cultural heritage.
The event featured conferment of Tiv traditional titles to Some prominent individuals to include the State Deputy Governor Doctor Emmanuel Akabe as Ate U TIV, meaning, “Tent of Tiv Nation”, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, SSA to the Governor on Public Affairs among others.
