ASUU Holds Valedictory Congress In Honour of NSUK VC

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has urged government at all levels to prioritize the appointment of individuals with proven integrity as Vice-Chancellors of Federal and State Universities.

This call was made during a valedictory Congress held to honor the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Nasarawa State University Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed.

Speaking at the event, the ASUU National President, Professor Emmanuel Osodoke commended the achievements of Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, attributing them to his hard work and dedication to duty.

Professor Osodoke emphasized the importance of appointing leaders who embody quality leadership and patriotism.

Speaking on the topic, the Peregrination of Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, Professor Gboyega Kolawole of the University of Abuja, said a leader must be friendly to his colleagues and create industrial relations in order to achieve success.

In his address, the ASUU Chairman Nasarawa State University Chapter, Professor Samuel Alu, emphasized the need for Vice-Chancellors to be appointed based on merit rather than personal connections.

He highlighted Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed’s commitment to his roots in ASUU and stressed the importance of appointing individuals with good character and leadership qualities.

On his part, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude to ASUU members for their support and recognition during his tenure and acknowledged the contributions of ASUU members from various universities calling for continued collaboration with his successor.

The valedictory Congress also featured the award of scholarships to four students by the national and NSUK Chapter of ASUU, as well as the presentation of plaques of recognition to members who have made significant contributions to the development of the union.
