Nasarawa University Establishes Best ICT Center
Nasarawa State University Keffi says it has built an ICT infrastructure capable of positioning the institution as one of the twenty first century ICT-Hub in the country.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed disclosed this during the first ICT stakeholders Summit organised by the ICT directorate of the University.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed in a remark during the first ICT stakeholders Summit explained that the university under his watch in the last five years has made tremendous efforts towards the revitalization of the ICT sector through deliberate policies that support the positive transformation currently taking place in the directorate.
He expressed the commitment of the institution to developing a reliable and dependable ICT hub and provision of internet facilities across the campus to drive the process of e learning and teaching, electronic payments of school fees and other forms of electronic transactions among others.
While acknowledging the tireless efforts of the director and staff of the ICT directorate towards changing the narrative, the Vice Chancellor urged them to continue to work extra hard and assured of support to enable them succeed in the discharge of their mandate.
In a paper presentation at the summit, Director ICT University of Jos and chairman committee of ICT directors in the country, Dr. Daniel Inusa Yakmut said the University of today is not physical but online, stressing the need for all universities in the country to transit from analogue ways of doing things to digital in order not to be left behind in the scheme of things.
Earlier, the Acting director of the ICT directorate Dr. Sule Idris acknowledged the significant role played by successive management of the University which has led to the success story being recorded, adding that their efforts has so far placed NSUK at the forefront of technological innovation.
Other speakers including prof. Maikano Ari and other partners lauded the rapid NSUK ICT development and called for its sustenance to enhance teaching and learning.
The event featured the Launch of the ICT policy document and award of recognition to the Vice Chancellor prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed and other principal officers for their contributions to the development of the ICT directorate.
