Nasarawa State Government Rallies Behind Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamma, has emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.

This call to action was made during a capacity-building training session attended by principals of 690 public schools and 29 area education officers at Savannah Hotel, Lafia.

Key Objectives of the AGILE Project:

  • Improve Learning Outcomes: Enhance educational opportunities for adolescent girls
  • Empowerment: Equip girls with essential life skills and knowledge
  • Multi-Sectoral Approach: Engage various stakeholders to address challenges

Dr. Mamma stressed the importance of teamwork and strict monitoring to guarantee the project’s success. Represented by Mallam Hassan Muhammad, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, he urged participants to remain attentive throughout the training.

Training Focus Areas:

  • Effective Strategies: Addressing issues within schools and communities
  • Communication: Resolving grievances with confidentiality, fairness, and without bias

Mr. Emrims Emmanuel from the National Project Coordinating Unit of AGILE highlighted the project’s scope, covering all 690 public schools in Nasarawa State.

State Coordinator Hajiya Aishatu Aliyu Isoga emphasized the training’s focus on effective strategies for addressing local challenges.

Facilitators Mr. Bako Bulus Bawa and Mr. Tulari Tine underscored the significance of effective communication in resolving grievances, promoting a positive and constructive resolution process.

This initiative aligns with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration’s focus on science, technology, and innovation for the state’s development .

By supporting education and empowerment programs, Nasarawa State aims to enhance the prospects of its youth and promote overall growth.
