Peaceful Elections in Lafia Local Government Area
The local government elections in Lafia, Nasarawa State, were characterized by peace and orderliness, according to reports from NBS News crew who monitored the exercise. Polling units visited, including Kofar Zanwa, Kofar Makama in Zanwa ward, and units in Gayam, Ciroma, and Shabu/Kwandare wards, witnessed voters exercising their civic rights in an orderly manner.
At the Kofar Sarkin Shabu polling unit, notable figures such as Sangarin Shabu, Alhaji Mahmud Umar Bwala, and Mohammed Bashir Aliyu, SSA to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Revenue, cast their votes. Aliyu commended the peaceful conduct of the election, urging winners to be committed to their responsibilities.
Security personnel were deployed to all visited polling units to ensure a hitch-free exercise. Marketplaces, including Lafia Neighborhood and Lafia Modern markets, were closed to enable voters to exercise their franchise.
