Kanem Borno, Lafia Emirate Council Strengthen Ties
The Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council, Muhammad Haliru Arabo, has commended the strong bond between Kanem Borno and the Lafia Emirate Council. This praise was expressed during a special event held to welcome notable guests, including Dr. Muhammad Ndimi, Chancellor of Phoenix University Agwada, and Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, to the Emir’s palace in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The guests were in Lafia to witness the matriculation ceremony of Phoenix University Agwada, Nasarawa’s first indigenous private university. As a mark of honor, they were treated to a traditional durbar, a ceremony deeply rooted in Kanuri culture.
Muhammad Arabo expressed gratitude for the gesture of solidarity shown by the Shehu of Borno and Dr. Ndimi. The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad Retired, emphasized that the durbar was a significant honor for both guests, reflecting their esteemed status in the Kanuri community.
During the visit, the Emir of Lafia led Dr. Ndimi to the palace Museum, where he explained the history of Lafia. This gesture highlights the strong historical and cultural ties between Kanem Borno and the Lafia Emirate Council.
The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Kanuri community, promoting unity and cooperation between the two groups.
