Nasarawa State Government Assures Jiuling Lithium Company of Investment Security
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has assured Jiuling Lithium Company of the security of its $200 million investment in the state. This assurance was given during a familiarization visit to the Jiuling Lithium project site in Endo, Udege Area Administrative Council.
The project site, located in Nasarawa Local Government, is home to a multi-million-dollar lithium processing plant, believed to be the largest in Africa. The company’s commitment to paying indigenous workers up to ₦500,000 as salary was particularly commendable, according to Governor Sule.
Governor Sule praised Jiuling Lithium Company for conducting an environmental impact analysis to ensure the protection of the land. He also appreciated the company’s choice to invest in Nasarawa State, assuring the Chinese investors of the safety of their investments.
However, Governor Sule emphasized the need for the company to reassess its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy to better address the needs of the host communities. Managing Director of Ganfeng Lithium Processing Company, Xiong Jin, affirmed the company’s commitment to employing local technical staff and ensuring their welfare.
The visit was a follow-up to Governor Sule’s recent week-long visit to China, where he likely discussed investment opportunities with Chinese companies. Meanwhile, Governor Sule also inspected the ongoing work at the Nasarawa Modern Market, expressing disappointment at the contractor’s failure to meet the stipulated deadline.
