Keffi Communities Benefit from Nasarawa State’s Multi-Million Naira Solar-Powered Water Projects

The Nasarawa State Government has inaugurated over 20 simple solar-powered boreholes in Keffi Local Government Area, worth millions of naira. This project was executed by the Nasarawa State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (NARWASSA) in conjunction with the Federal Government’s Partisanship Expanded Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene (PEWASH) initiative.

Since Geologist Haruna Ewa’s appointment as acting General Manager of NARWASSA, he has played a crucial role in ensuring the availability of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities across rural communities. The inauguration of these solar-powered boreholes is part of this effort, aimed at improving access to clean drinking water in Keffi.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Muhammad Aga Muluku, and the Chairman of Keffi Local Government Council, Idris Ahmed Damagani, led a team to the inauguration ceremony. They emphasized that the state government’s effort is focused on improving the standard of living for residents and ensuring sustainable development.

The Chairman of Keffi Local Government Council appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for the intervention and assured the council’s readiness to partner with the state government to better the lives of the people.

Some of the locations where the solar-powered boreholes were inaugurated include:

  • Kara Market in Keffi: The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Muhammad Aga Muluku, inaugurated a simple solar-powered borehole, reiterating Governor Abdullahi Sule’s determination to execute projects that directly impact people’s lives.
  • Butcher’s Market in Mararaba, Karu: Another solar-powered borehole was inaugurated, aiming to reduce water scarcity and disease outbreaks in the area.
  • Kofar Maibulala, Gangare Karofi, Angwan Mission community, Kogo Kofar Yusuf Yashi, Yelwa Gangare: Solar-powered boreholes were also inaugurated in these locations, with representatives from benefiting communities praising Governor Abdullahi Sule’s leadership and promising to use the facilities judiciously.

These projects demonstrate the Nasarawa State Government’s commitment to providing essential services to its citizens, aligning with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s efforts to improve the lives of residents and ensure sustainable development.
