Hajiya Hadiza Dahiru

Hajiya Hadiza Dahiru is a seasoned Nigerian public administrator, broadcaster, media professional, and communication scholar with over two decades of experience in public service, broadcasting, education, and public administration. She currently serves as the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, where she provides strategic leadership in policy implementation, information management, cultural promotion, and tourism development in Nasarawa State.

Born on 11 July 1972 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Hajiya Hadiza has built an impressive career through dedication, professionalism, and continuous academic advancement. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mass Communication at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, having previously obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mass Communication, a Master in Public Administration (MPA), and a Bachelor of Arts (Combined Honours) in Islamic Studies and Mass Communication. She also completed a Basic Television Production Course at Television College, Jos.

Before her appointment as Permanent Secretary in 2026, Hajiya Hadiza served as Director of Programmes at the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), Lafia, where she supervised programme planning, production, presentation, script writing, news writing, and quality assurance. She also served as a Producer/Presenter, UNICEF Focal Officer, member of the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee, and member of the Programmes Quality Committee, contributing significantly to the growth and professionalism of state broadcasting.

Earlier in her career, she worked as a Class Teacher at Government Secondary School, Maina, Lafia, and later as a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Nasarawa State Polytechnic Consultancy Services, where she mentored and trained aspiring media professionals.

Throughout her career, Hajiya Hadiza has attended numerous professional training programmes in Nigeria and abroad, including workshops organized by the Voice of America (VOA), the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and several management and journalism development institutions. Her training has focused on newsroom management, broadcast journalism, conflict-sensitive reporting, television production, public administration, and professional development.

She possesses strong leadership, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills. She is recognized for her ability to work under pressure, manage teams effectively, develop innovative media programmes, and promote ethical journalism and public communication.

Hajiya Hadiza has travelled to Thailand, Malaysia, Sudan, Uganda, and Saudi Arabia, broadening her international exposure and professional outlook.

Outside her official responsibilities, she enjoys reading, travelling, cooking, and sports. She is fluent in English and Hausa and is committed to public service, media excellence, and human capacity development.

With extensive experience spanning broadcasting, education, communication, and government administration, Hajiya Hadiza Dahiru remains one of the notable public sector communication professionals in Nasarawa State, contributing significantly to the advancement of information management, media development, and public administration.
