Lawmaker Flags Off Free Medical Outreach in Umaisha
Politicians and multinational corporations in Nasarawa State have been challenged to complement the efforts of the state government by providing medical services to rural dwellers.
The Member representing Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency, Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, made the call while flagging off a free medical outreach in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area.
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Member representing Umaisha/Ugya Constituency, Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, flagged off the free medical outreach designed to cater for 2,500 beneficiaries across the six wards of his constituency.
The benefiting wards include Umaisha, Ugya, Kenyahu, Dausu, Shege and Katakpa.
The event, which took place at the General Hospital, Umaisha, attracted beneficiaries from the six electoral wards who are suffering from different forms of ailments and came to access free medical services.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad also presented appointment letters to 19 Special Assistants, SAs, who will work under his office, and donated 20 large aluminium cooking pots to the All Progressives Congress, APC, women leaders for use in providing free services to their communities.
Speaking at the occasion, Sa’ad appreciated the people of Umaisha/Ugya Constituency for the support and encouragement they had continued to accord him.
He maintained that providing for his people remains his greatest passion in life, assuring that he would continue to do so for the rest of his life.
In a remark, the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, commended the lawmaker, Ibrahim Sa’ad, for passionately providing humanitarian services to his constituents at a time when they needed them most.
In a goodwill message, the Ohimegye Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, expressed satisfaction with the performance of Sa’ad as Member representing Umaisha/Ugya Constituency.
He urged the lawmaker to sustain the implementation of programmes that directly benefit the people of his constituency.
The Resident Doctor in charge of General Hospital, Umaisha, Dr. Abu Peter, and the Coordinator of the medical outreach, Mrs. Khadija Tijjani, said the exercise would cover medical treatment and surgical operations for different ailments, including diabetes, appendicitis and hepatitis.
They added that a health talk would also form part of the programme to educate beneficiaries on healthy living and disease prevention.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Habiba Isa, Abdullahi Abubakar, Oigabo Rhoda and Lamwam Naanna, expressed appreciation to the legislator, Sa’ad, for coming to their aid by providing them with free medical services.
