The task of building a better Nasarawa State is the collective responsibility of every citizen.

The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (retired), made the statement when he honoured two illustrious sons of the state with traditional titles at his palace in Lafia on Saturday.

The occasion brought together traditional rulers, title holders, serving Commissioners, a National Assembly member, friends, family members and associates, including the APC governorship candidate, Aliyu Ahmed Wadada, and the State APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello.

They gathered at the palace to celebrate with the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Bureau for Rural Development, Engineer Muhammad Sidi Sani, who was turbaned as Wakilin Ayyukan Lafia, and the immediate past Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and APC senatorial candidate for Nasarawa West, Dr. Faisal Shuaibu, who was honoured as Falakin Lafia.

Speaking through the Makongijin Lafia, Hassan Abdullahi Wakili, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (retired), explained that the two honourees were considered deserving of the traditional titles because of their various contributions to the progress and development of Nasarawa State.

He urged other individuals who have the opportunity to serve the state and their communities to emulate the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the honourees.

In line with tradition, the newly turbaned Wakilin Ayyukan Lafia and Falakin Lafia were asked to pledge their loyalty to the Emir, signifying their acceptance of the new responsibilities associated with the traditional titles.

Certificates of the titles were also presented to them by the royal father.

Speaking in an interview shortly after the ceremony, the Wakilin Ayyukan Lafia, Engineer Muhammad Sidi Sani, expressed appreciation to the Emir for the honour and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He attributed the achievement to Governor Abdullahi Sule, who, according to him, gave him the opportunity to serve the people of Nasarawa State in that capacity and make use of his professional experience as an engineer.
