Nasarawa Rural Bureau Constructs 616km of Roads in Six Years
The Nasarawa State Bureau for Rural Development has constructed a total of 616 kilometres of roads within six years of its existence.
The Director-General of the Bureau, Engineer Muhammad Sidi Sani, disclosed this during a meeting with contractors handling various projects at the conference hall of the agency in Lafia on Wednesday.
The Director-General, Engineer Sidi Sani, said the meeting was convened to assess the performance of contractors, identify issues responsible for unnecessary delays in project execution and find appropriate solutions to them.
Engineer Sani explained that, apart from the 316 kilometres of roads that have been completed, another 140 kilometres are currently under construction, while 200 kilometres are in the pipeline.
He reiterated that the present administration under Governor Abdullahi Sule remains committed to transforming the lives of rural dwellers and reducing rural-urban migration by improving the living standards of people at the grassroots.
Appreciating the contractors for their patience, cooperation and good work, Engineer Muhammad Sidi Sani assured them that all issues responsible for unnecessary delays would be addressed amicably.
He also tasked the contractors not to compromise standards in the execution of their projects, stressing the need for quality and durability in all the projects being undertaken.
Some of the contractors who spoke during the meeting attributed delays in the completion of projects to delayed payments, rainfall and insecurity.
