The General Manager of the Nasarawa State Motor Vehicles Administration and Traffic Agency, Engineer Victor Jerry Iya, has called on motorists to desist from violating the rules and regulations governing the highways.

He made the statement shortly after an operation conducted on some streets in Lafia.

Addressing journalists shortly after an operation in some streets within Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, where motorists frequently drive against the flow of traffic, the General Manager of the Nasarawa State Motor Vehicles Administration and Traffic Agency, Engineer Victor Jerry Iya, noted that the agency is committed to ensuring that motorists adhere to the rules guiding the use of highways.

According to Engineer Iya, obeying traffic rules is the responsibility of every motorist and is essential to reducing road crashes. He appealed to members of the public to show understanding and cooperate with the agency while its officials are carrying out their duties.

While emphasising that the present administration has constructed roads and installed traffic lights to guide drivers, he said motorists are expected to comply with the rules and regulations put in place to ensure safety.

He reaffirmed the agency’s determination to work hard to reduce road accidents on the highways and promote responsible driving among motorists across the state.

Speaking during the operation, the Director of Operations, Engineer Ibrahim Keogh Al Hassan, explained that the officials were out to ensure that motorists used the roads correctly in order to prevent accidents and protect the lives of road users.
