Nurses Commission Nine-Unit Apartment, Renovated Office Complex
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Nasarawa State Council, has taken steps to improve the welfare of nurses and midwives by constructing a nine-unit self-contained apartment and an office complex.
The projects, inaugurated by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, aim to advance the interests and welfare of members of the association.
The two projects inaugurated by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, include a fully furnished nine-unit self-contained apartment, equipped with beds and wardrobes, located in Nasarawa Eggon, as well as a renovated and modernised office complex at the Nurses’ House, Bukan Sidi, Lafia.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, reiterated the state government’s commitment to prioritising the health sector, assuring that more attention would be given to the sector to improve healthcare delivery across the state.
Dr. Gwamna commended the leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) for its determination in achieving the feat, urging other health-sector unions to emulate the association.
He also pledged the continued support of the state government towards improving the welfare and working conditions of health workers in Nasarawa State.
In separate messages, speakers at the event, including past leaders of the association, Gom Mama Mustapha Bala Zubairu Adams, the Nigeria Labour Congress, represented by its National Auditor, RATAWU Comrade Ahmed Naibi, and the Principal of the College of Nursing Sciences, Dr. Averson Pius Ayuba, called on members of NANNM to always support and pray for their leaders for greater development of the nursing and midwifery profession in the state.
In a remark, Chairman of NANNM, Nasarawa State Council, Nurse Attah Ayaka Avre, said the successful completion of the projects demonstrated the collective commitment and support of members towards the growth of the association. He appreciated members for their commitment, sacrifices and unwavering support, which he said contributed to the realisation of the projects.
Avre also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for creating a favourable environment for the growth of the nursing and midwifery profession and appealed for the employment of more nurses to improve healthcare delivery in the state.
