This warning came as the Governor flagged off the distribution of over 300,000 bags of fertilizer for dry-season farming in the state.

The plight of every farmer is for a bumper harvest and this is the focus of Nasarawa State Government as it rolled out 13,200 bags made up of tones of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs for farmers in the state.

To be sold at N12,000 against what is obtainable in the market, the Governor posited that his administration is poised to ensure all-year-round farming in the state, hence ensuring the commodity goes to the actual farmers.

He said, that in a bid to enhance agricultural practices in the state, his administration has not relented in providing the enabling environment for investors in the agricultural sectors, hence attracting the Agricultural Mechanisation and Equipment Development Institute and other agricultural companies to Nasarawa State.

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abubakar Danakano, and the Chairman Committee on Agriculture of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Peter Akwe underscored the Governor’s commitment towards improved agricultural practices.

They said the sales of fertilizer at a subsidized rate and other policies must be effectively utilized by farmers in the state.

This was corroborated by the State Chairman of ALGON and Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council, Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, assuring that the farm inputs would be made available to the targeted farmers.

To the Emir of Lafia who doubles as Chairman, of Nasarawa State Traditional Council, Retired Justice, Sidi Bage Mohammed the event is apt and will go a long way in boosting the capacity of local farmers.
