Nasarawa State Government says it will sustain its commitment to quick dispensation of justice.

Governor Abdullahi Sule said this while declaring open a  Workshop on the Implementation of Sections 29, 33, and 24 Of the Criminal Justice Act 2015 Across Nasarawa State.

The one-day workshop, held at the Ta’al Conference Hotel, Lafia with twenty Lawyers, Magistrates and the Police as participants was sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Justice and at no cost to the state government.

Declaring the session opened, Governor Sule commended the state Chief Judge Justice A’isha Bashir and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Labaran Magaji for their contributions to the effective execution of the criminal justice system in Nasarawa State, just as he also praised the security agencies for always being on the right part of the law.

Highlighting that the Workshop is apt, the State Chief Judge, Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu said the state justice sector has been committed to the implementation of the criminal justice law and has also seen to decongesting the custodial centres in the state, thus appreciating Governor Abdullahi Sule for his support.

The workshop was hinged on acquainting the participants with relevant sections of the Criminal Justice Act, as highlighted by the Solicitor General of the Federation, Beatrice Jedy-Agba represented by Felix Okojie.The State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Labaran Magaji explained that the workshop is meant to ensure synergy among the stakeholders of the implementation of the criminal justice act, with a view to ensuring speedy dispensation of justice.

Affirming that the workshop directly affects the operations of the Nigerian Police, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada said it relates to the vision of the Inspector General of Police, hence urging the participating Police Officers to use the knowledge effectively.
