Rainstorm Destroys Over 50 Houses in Lafia, Residents Appeal for Aids
Rainstorm has destroyed over fifty Houses at Ombi Anzaku in Lafia North Development Area at the early hours of Tuesday.
To this end, residents of Ombi Anzaku have made a passionate appeal to the Nasarawa state and Lafia Local Governments to come to their aid.
Ombi Anzaku community located at the outskirts of Lafia metropolis was thrown into sad mood following a rainstorm that destroyed Over fifty houses and the only primary school that was built by members of the community .
When NBS News crew arrived Ombi Anzaku community, it was observed that many roofs were pulled off and some parts of Buildings were also pulled down including a mask belonging to one of the service providers as a result of the Tuesday heavy downpour.
Speaking to NBS News Crew shortly after going round to ascertain the level of destruction, the Village Head of Ombi Anzaku, Mr. Ahmadu Abu noted that houses and property worth millions of Naira were destroyed , and called on his subjects to take solace in God.
Mr. Abu used the medium to appeal to government at all levels, Nongovernmental organizations and well to do individuals to urgently come to their rescue to enable them rebuild their Houses.
Narrating his ordeals, one of the victims of the rainstorm Ahmed Abdullahi explained that the incident which was first of its kind was devastating as almost all houses in the community were affected , thus calling for support from all and sundry.
As at time of filling in this report, some residents whose houses were affected, were seen carrying out some repairs.
