Toxic Clay Harmful for Human Consumption, University Don Warns
Professor Suleiman Philip Ivom Ogah of the Federal University of Lafia’s Department of Chemistry has raised concerns about the toxic nature of clay, emphasizing its harmful effects on human health when consumed.
Prof. Ogah made this known during the 25th inaugural lecture of the institution, held at the MIS Multipurpose Hall. He spoke on the topic “Dirt Eating, Geophagy, and Chemical Kinetics of Geophagic Constituents in Healthy Tissues and Organs.”
The professor called for the screening of organic pollutants in clay deposits in Nigeria, highlighting the need for profiling.
