FULAFIA To Encourage Academic Research
The Federal University of Lafia says it will continue to encourage academic research aimed at solving societal problems.
Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shehu Abdulrahman stated this during the 12th Inaugural Lecture Series of the institution held at Adamu Adamu Twin Lecture Complex.
The inaugural lecture series which was delivered by a Professor of Crop Entomology, Monday Unwabune Ukwela centered on “Insect: Diversity, Natural and Strategic War.”
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdulrahman acknowledged that research work among professors has gone a long way to proffering solutions to some certain issues both in science, technology and other innovations, thus tasking them to always carryout research that will improve all sectors of human endeavor.
While commending the guest lecturer for achieving the feat, the Vice Chancellor described the inaugural lecture as customary for all professors, hence calling on those who are yet to deliver theirs to strive towards that, assuring them of the management’s support in all ramifications.
Corroborating the views of Abdulrahman, the Vice Chancellor of Joseph Sarwuan Tarkan University Makurdi, Benue State Prof. Isaac Nathaniel Itodo congratulated the celebrant for sharing his achievements in the field of entomology and pledged his institution’s support at all times.
The inaugural lecturer, Professor Monday Unwabune Ukwela who highlighted the effects of insects in crops, reiterated his commitment to engaging in more research work that will address the cases of insects that are hostile to crops which will affect yield in most farms across the country.
The event featured presentation by some groups as the chairman inaugural lecture of the institution Prof. Josephine Odeh appreciated management of the institution for according priority to the inaugural lecture which she noted will enable professors contribute to the education sector.
