Development Partners Applauded for Contributions to Malaria Fight in Nasarawa
Nasarawa state ministry for health has applauded the support and contributions of development partners in the fight against malaria in the state. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, made this known during a one-day symposium organized to commemorate 2024 World Malaria Day.
According to the state commissioner for health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Damina John Ali, the burden of Malaria has drastically reduced due to the effort put together by the State Malaria Elimination Program and the support from Break Through Action Nigeria BA-N.
He said the preventative mechanism put in place during ANC at the various Primary Health Care centres across the state has helped to address cases of malaria during pregnancy and other pregnancy related issues.
In a remark, Director Public Health, Ministry for Health, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, who encouraged the public to embrace preventive measures against contracting malaria, stressed the need for effective use of Insecticide Treated Net as well as maintaining good hygiene and environmental sanitation.
Also speaking, the state coordinator Break Through Action Nigeria BA-N, Mr. Thomas Uhobu while assuring of his organization’s support to the fight against malaria in Nasarawa state, encouraged people to imbibe the habit of testing any fever case before treatment, saying it is not all fevers that are Malaria.
The program with the Theme “Addressing Malaria in Pregnancy,” organized by the Nasarawa State ministry for health in collaboration with Break Through Action Nigeria BA-N, had in attendance key stakeholders, including Health Promotion officers from all the thirteen Local Government areas in the State.
