Children Demand for Access to Quality and Affordable Education
Children in Nasarawa State have called for access to quality and affordable education.
They made the call during an event organized to celebrate International Children’s Day.
Young students in Nasarawa State came together with their peers across the globe to commemorate International Children’s Day, emphasizing the importance of accessible and high-quality education for all children in the country.
Highlighting the significance of the 27th of March as International Children’s Day, the event aimed to foster mutual understanding among children and instill a sense of responsibility within them towards their community.
This year’s celebration saw children from various backgrounds, alongside government officials led by the State’s Deputy Governor, as well as enthusiastic parents and teachers, coming together at Lafia City Stadium.
The young participants showcased their talents through parades and cultural displays, in spite of challenging weather conditions.
In an interview with NBS News, a range of children expressed joy and gratitude for the festivities, recognizing the support and care shown by the government, parents, and educators and called for increased focus on the education sector.
Other speakers including the Commissioner of Education Dr. John Mamman, and Danladi Agabi from Federal University of Lafia, stressed the importance of enhancing the overall well-being of Nigerian children through quality education and skills development.
Advocating for more skill acquisition programs, they highlighted the potential for children to make meaningful contributions to societal progress.
