Residents of Gidan Ausa community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State are reeling in shock after the gruesome discovery of a naked, decomposed body on the outskirts of their community. The body was found along the Madagwa-Doma Road over the weekend, sparking widespread concern and fear among the villagers.

According to eyewitnesses, the corpse was discovered by a group of women who had ventured into the nearby bush to gather firewood. Reports from the scene indicate that part of the body was burned, with fragments of the deceased’s clothing, including burnt slippers, found nearby.

The Head of Hunters in Gidan Ausa noted that while the body appears to have been dumped in the area, it remains unclear whether the victim was killed on-site or transported there by unknown assailants. The Acting District Head of Gidan Ausa, Chief David Lamini, expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as both disturbing and fearful for community members.

Lamini attributed the rising insecurity in the area to the lack of police presence in Agyaragu, which has suffered violent incidents, including the burning of a Police Divisional Outpost and other nearby stations. He urged the Commissioner of Police and local authorities to take immediate action to restore police visibility and ensure the safety of the community.

In response to the incident, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, stated that the police had not yet received official reports regarding the incident. However, Nansel assured the public that the Police Command, along with other security agencies, is actively working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and combat escalating criminal activities in the state.
