Giza FC Win See and Do Peace Football Tournament
Giza FC have emerged champions of the See and Do Peace and Unity Football Tournament after defeating See and Do FC of Kadarko five goals to four in a penalty shootout.
The final of the See and Do Peace Football Tournament was characterised by impressive football displays as local players showcased their skills and determination in a keenly contested encounter to determine the eventual champions.
From the first half of the proceedings, See and Do FC of Kadarko set the pace early with intelligent build-up play. Their midfielders linked up with quick passes, while the fullbacks provided width and delivered dangerous crosses into the attacking area.
On the other hand, Giza FC responded with a well-organised defensive structure and resilience. Their defenders remained composed under pressure, while the goalkeeper produced three outstanding saves to deny what could have been certain goals.
Despite the quality of play from both sides, neither team was able to find the back of the net after 90 minutes, forcing the match into a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
One after another, players from both teams stepped forward to take their penalties. Giza FC converted all five of their chances, while See and Do FC missed one, handing Giza FC a five-four victory and the championship title.
Speaking shortly after the match, the sponsor of the tournament and NDC House of Representatives candidate for Awe, Keana and Doma Federal Constituency, Barrister Joseph Atsevogo Maro, explained that he organised the tournament as part of his contribution to the development of sports in Nasarawa State.
He said the competition was also designed to create opportunities for young footballers to showcase their abilities and promote peace and unity among communities.
Contributing, the See and Do Campaign Director-General expressed optimism about the level of talent displayed by the players throughout the tournament.
He called for massive support for Barrister Joseph Atsevogo Maro and commended the initiative for providing young people with an opportunity to develop their sporting abilities.
The final of the tournament featured the presentation of the trophy to Giza FC as winners, while medals were presented to the second- and third-place teams.
Cash donations were also presented to deserving players in recognition of their individual performances and contributions to the success of the tournament.
