Eggon Youth Leaders Urged To Drive Community Development
The Minority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Abel Bala Yakubu, has challenged the leadership of the Eggon Youths Association at all levels to use the platform to influence policies and create opportunities for young people to participate actively in shaping the future of the Eggon nation.
The lawmaker threw the challenge at the maiden swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected national executives of Ambaga Youth Association, held at Central Primary School, Lambaga, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, on Saturday.
Identifying with the new national executives of the Ambaga Youth Association, national body, the Minority Leader and member representing Eggon West Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Abel Bala Yakubu, charged them to see their roles as a responsibility rather than a position of entitlement.
He urged them to ensure unity and promote community-driven projects for the growth and development of the Ambaga community.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Dr. Daniel Ewuga Asele; the Chairman of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Council, Barr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu, represented by his aide on Sanitary Regulations, Solomon Sunday Abu; and the President of the Eggon Youth Association, Comrade Friday Ozeegee Haruna, through the Assistant Secretary of the Association, David Yusuf, highlighted the critical shift needed from youths to achieve sustainable progress in any society.
They enjoined the newly inaugurated youth leaders to focus on community service, accountability, and capacity building for young people.
In separate goodwill messages, Architect Ayinga Adagadzu, Justice Haruna Ofo, and others described youths as pillars of society, appealing to the newly inaugurated leaders of Ambaga Community to embrace all members and ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Shortly after taking the oath of office administered by Barrister Peter Audu, the Chairman of the Ambaga Youth Association, national body, Comrade Ayuba Moday Akyenyi, appreciated the Ambaga Community for entrusting them with the responsibility and promised to run an open-door policy that would enable every member of the community to contribute to its growth and development.
He also outlined a six-point agenda, which includes peace and unity, youth empowerment and opportunities, community development, security, health and welfare, as well as soliciting support and cooperation.
The event featured the unveiling of Royal sites procured by the new EXCO and the presentation of meritorious awards to some illustrious sons of the community, including the Executive Director of Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Dr. Daniel Ewuga Asele.
Eggon cultural dancers also added colour and excitement to the event.
