Nasarawa Emerges Champion In 2026 Bible Memorization Competition
Nasarawa State has emerged champion in the Bible Memorization and Quiz Competition at the 2026 Annual Conference of the National Association of Christian Religious Educators of Nigeria.
The five-day event, which was held at Queen Amina College, Kaduna, came to a close on Saturday, featuring a competitive showcase of talents by young Christian students from across the country.
The 48th Annual Conference of the National Association of Christian Religious Educators of Nigeria, held in Kaduna State, featured Bible recitation, memorization, and quiz competitions.
Nasarawa State was represented by five active participants, accompanied by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Christian Religious Matters, Venerable Jibraila Yarima Dabong.
At the conclusion of the event, winners emerged in all categories, with Nasarawa State emerging champion in the Bible Recitation and Memorization category, represented by Odoh Precious Chisom and Esther Ukamaka Basil.
The state also secured fourth position in the Bible Quiz Competition, represented by Abeson Danjuma, Promise Habila, and Chiamaka Emmanuela Okafor.
Speaking at the event, Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Christian Religious Matters, Reverend Venerable Jibraila Yarima Dabong, commended the initiative and tasked Christian Religious Educators to prioritise the moulding of children in godly character.
He stressed the need for educators to focus not only on academic exercises but also on raising children with good values and sound moral character, which, he said, would help save the nation from evil and corrupt mindsets.
The Governor commended the Nasarawa State contingents for representing the state well and appreciated them for making the state proud, while enjoining them to keep up the spirit and continue striving for excellence.
During the conference, Reverend Dabong presented copies of a book written in honour of Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, titled “A Godly Leader: The Life, Times and Service of Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule,” to the national leadership of the Association.
Responding shortly after receiving the books, the National President of the Association, Professor Yohanna Mamza of the University of Jos, described Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule as a God-fearing personality whose leadership style guarantees religious freedom.
Professor Mamza noted that the books would serve as valuable reference materials for the conference and contribute to the documentation and understanding of the Governor’s leadership and service.
Speaking on behalf of the participants from Nasarawa State and as one of the winners of the competition, Odoh Chisom expressed gratitude to God, the state government, and the entire people of Nasarawa State for their support and prayers.
