JUSUN Issues Fresh Seven-Day Strike Ultimatum To Nasarawa Government
The Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Nasarawa State Chapter, has issued a fresh seven-day ultimatum to the Nasarawa State Government and the Judicial Service Commission to address its demands or face industrial action.
Chairman of the association, Comrade Mas’ud Mohammad Ubangari, gave the warning during a Congress meeting held at the JUSUN Secretariat along Kwandere Road in Lafia.
The ultimatum followed the expiration of the 21-day notice of strike earlier issued by the union on August 5, 2026.
In an interview with newsmen after the union’s Congress meeting, JUSUN Chairman in the state, Comrade Mas’ud Mohammadu Ubangari, decried what he described as the government’s failure to address the workers’ demands, prompting the Congress to deliberate on the next line of action.
Among the demands of the union, according to Comrade Ubangari, is the implementation of a 40 percent peculiar allowance and improved opportunities for career progression.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the union, Comrade Ogbere Zechariah, said the national body of JUSUN had given the state chapter the nod to commence industrial action if negotiations between the union and the Nasarawa State Government failed.
He said that if the government failed to meet the union’s demands by September 16, activities at all courts across the state would be brought to a halt.
The Congress also called on the Judicial Service Commission to provide opportunities for career progression for serving judicial staff, stressing that any attempt to engage retired staff on contract without considering the career advancement of serving workers would be resisted.
