President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a list of seven ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation. The nominees include:

  • Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda
  • Muhammadu Dingyadi
  • Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu
  • Dr. Jumoke Oduwole
  • Mukhtar Maiha
  • Yusuf Abdullahi Ata
  • Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad

Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred the request to the committee of the whole for expedited consideration.

In related news, the House of Representatives has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to increase circulation of new ₦200, ₦500, and ₦1,000 notes. The House also requested that commercial banks issue more new notes and gradually withdraw old ones.

This resolution follows a motion by Adam Victor Ogene, citing hardships caused by the 2023 currency change. Ogene emphasized the need for awareness programs to prepare Nigerians for the December 31, 2024 deadline.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) stressed that no Nigerian child should suffer from polio amidst advancements in healthcare. UNICEF’s Chief of Field, Bauchi Field Office, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, made this statement during the 2024 World Polio Day celebrations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Coordinator in Bauchi, Dr. Mustapha Mai’Iyali, highlighted the importance of raising awareness about polio’s devastating effects.
