Rufa’i, Canvasses for Women Inclusion in Governance
Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya A’isha Rufa’i has called for concerted efforts to accelerate women inclusion in governance.
She stated this during an advocacy visit in continuation of International Women’s Day celebration in Akurba, Lafia.
The one-day sensitization program was organized by the Nasarawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ministry of Health in collaboration with development partners to commemorate this year’s international women’s day celebration.
Addressing the women, the commissioner, Hajiya Aisha Rufa’i Ibrahim said the aim of the programme is to create awareness on health education, gender based violence issues affecting women’s wellbeing and advancement.
She explained that with this year’s theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” there’s more to be done to accelerate women inclusion in all facets of human endeavours.
Speaking, Deputy Director Nutrition, Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Salamatu Isa Ciroma used the forum to encourage women of reproductive age to always attend anti-natal care during pregnancy and eat healthy diet.
On their part, Executive Director Adama Centre for Peace and Development Ibrahim Samaila and Bernard Ajegena of YMCA among others enlightened the community women on need to participate in Village Saving Loan Scheme to improve their livelihood.
