Girl-Child Education Gets N2 Million Lift: Asma’u and Hassan Foundation’s Generous Donation
The Asma’u and Hassan Foundation for Orphans and Vulnerable has taken a significant step towards promoting girl-child education in Nasarawa State. Recently, the foundation presented a cheque of over two million naira to support the enrollment of 104 female students, including those with disabilities, across the state.
This generous donation is part of the foundation’s efforts to prioritize the education of vulnerable individuals, particularly the girl child. According to the Chief Executive Officer, Hussaina Abdullahi Sule, “education is the right of every girl child”. This sentiment is echoed by the United Nations, which recognizes the importance of girls’ education as a key factor in achieving gender equality and promoting sustainable development.
The foundation’s Programme Manager, Collins Chukwueze, represented Hussaina Abdullahi Sule during the presentation ceremony, which took place at the foundation’s office in Lafia. The event was a follow-up to the foundation’s awareness campaign on girl-child education and menstrual hygiene, which successfully enrolled 27 out-of-school girls to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.
