NOA Lauds Police, Security Agencies over Arrest of Benue Massacre Suspects

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has doffed its cap to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies for arresting the suspected mastermind behind the recent massacre in Yeletawa, Benue State, which resulted in the loss of lives and properties.

The Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a statement made available by the Deputy Director, Communication & Media of the agency, Paul Odenyi, said the feat is worth commending.

The Director General noted that the arrest has demonstrated the commitment of the security agencies to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, adding that the swift action taken by the police and other security agencies has brought a sense of relief to the affected communities and the nation at large.

Issa-Onilu expressed his gratitude to the security agencies for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order in the country, emphasizing that the arrest would serve as a deterrent to others who might be planning similar heinous crimes.

Reflecting on the efforts of NOA in engaging the government, particularly on security matters, the Director General stated that under the Nigerian Promise of the National Values Charter, peace and security are considered one of the fundamental promises made by leaders to the people.

He noted that the recent arrest of the suspected mastermind behind the massacre is a fulfillment of such promise.The DG, who noted that President Tinubu, during his visit to Benue State, had earlier ordered the security agencies to fish out those behind the act, also commended him for his prompt response to the situation, which has led to the arrest.

The NOA Boss further urged Nigerians to continue supporting the security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and stability in the country, emphasizing the importance of providing security agencies with accurate and timely information to aid their work.
